Another Mother’s Day post

Mother\'s Day presentI think every single blog I have visited over the last 3 days has included a post about Mother’s Day.  I’d hate to be left out.  We had a nice day – made a mad dash to the Chapel for Mass.  It was packed so we had to sit in the Narthex.  An aside….We have got to find a church!  After singing “One Bread, One Body” 500 times over that last year, I need some Protestant music  (and after hearing “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today” absolutely brutalized by that choir and congregation, I’m thinking I wont hear what I like there!).

Then we went to the E/O Club for brunch. We got seats right by the water and had a nice champagne brunch. Claire ate more meat at that meal than I’ve seen her consume for some time!  Later, I got to open some presents which I didnt expect.  Claire had lots of cards and pictures for me and she picked out this beautiful cheerful coffee mug.  DH got me a thumb drive – we’re transferring files to our new computer and I dont want all my homeschool stuff to get deleted or lost – and it’s something he’d like.

I also hung out on my front steps with a neighbor for a bit. She and I have gotten to know each better just recently.  She has 2 girls that are just great – kind, thoughtful, smart – but they will move in July.  We’re already dreading the power shift that will mean in the local “Lord of the Flies” experiment….

In one of my finer parenting moments, I made my child apologize for playing too rough. Saturday, she and about 5 other girls from age 12-5 were chasing, hitting, pinching, and generally terrorizing one of their brothers.  It started all in fun, but got really rough fast.  I insisted she go to his house and apologize – not because she hurt him – she’s 70lbs lighter than he is, but because it was totally unnecessary and I wanted her to think about how it might have felt to be ganged up on.  I went with her and spoke to Ben, who was fabulous with the whole process…esp. since he’s an 11yr boy!  Claire couldnt do it – she got so upset and embarrassed. So I apologized and told him it WOULD NOT happen again.  She more than got the message! ;)

Using Mother’s Day as a nice segue for the update that is most on our minds around here…my reproductive adventure. (Yes, I’m thinking of getting my ovaries their own blog!)  The last 2 weeks were tough ones – finding out about the new TDY schedule and hormones were high.  I was very “late” and my charts were looking suspiciously like an early pregnancy that didnt stick.  My doc said it was up to me to do the testing to find out for sure, but that knowing it was an early pregnancy would not add anything to the treatment plan.  So I started the clomid for a try at the old-fashioned method this go round.  I have an ultrasound this week to see how well I responded – and I’ll be disappointed if it isnt fairly good considering the amount of pressure I feel already!  DH has also done his part for this process, and we are now renting a very small climate-controlled storage unit. :)

  • Happy belated Mother’s Day! I haven’t had much time lately to visit your blog. Good luck with the clomid. That fertility drug was not my friend.
